Kamalaya’s New Sacred Renewal Program: Exploring the More Spiritual Side of Kamalaya

Kamalaya has just announced a new program, Sacred Renewal, launching on 1 October 2026. It is the latest addition to what is now a very broad range of 20 wellness programs at Kamalaya. The offering spans everything from fitness, movement and strength and detox and gut renewal, through to sleep, brain enhancement, longevity and emotional resilience, as well as the Wellbeing Sabbatical for those looking to stay longer.

What I like about Sacred Renewal is that it leans further into the spiritual side of Kamalaya, drawing on yogic and Vedic philosophy, ancient healing traditions, the lunar cycle and the five elements. It feels to me like a deeper exploration of a side of Kamalaya that has always been there, while adding another dimension to an already very varied offering.

And that is worth mentioning because one of the things I think makes Kamalaya such a special retreat is not just the number of programs, but the ability to find an approach that meets you where you are when you choose to take time out for yourself.

One of the things I love about Kamalaya is the choice

When you visit Kamalaya, you can be staying alongside people who are there for completely different reasons. One guest might be focused on fitness, exercise, nutrition and getting as active as possible, with very little interest in anything that could be described as spiritual, while another might be spending time meditating, chanting mantras and really embracing the spiritual traditions that are such an important part of Kamalaya's philosophy, with many guests somewhere in between

That flexibility is one of the things I love about Kamalaya. You don't have to arrive with a particular wellness philosophy, and you don't have to participate in everything on offer. You can create a stay that is very active, very restorative, heavily focused on treatments, or a combination of fitness, nutrition, yoga, meditation and therapies, depending on what you need at that particular point in your life.

Having visited many times, I think this is something that can be difficult to appreciate until you experience it yourself. Kamalaya isn't simply a spiritual retreat, nor is it just a fitness or detox retreat. It brings together a remarkably broad range of approaches to wellbeing, which means two people can stay there at the same time and have completely different experiences.

Sacred Renewal gives guests who are particularly drawn to the spiritual side an opportunity to explore that in much greater depth.

So, what is Sacred Renewal?

Sacred Renewal is an immersive 8, 11 or 15-night program inspired by yogic and Vedic philosophy, ancient healing traditions and the rhythms of the lunar cycle.

The program explores both the waxing and waning phases of the moon. In traditional philosophy, the waxing moon is associated with expansion and clarity, while the waning moon is connected with release, purification and inward reflection. Sacred Renewal works with these different qualities as part of a broader cycle of activation, integration, emergence and surrender.

Importantly, you don't need to time your holiday around a particular moon phase. Sacred Renewal can be booked and experienced during any phase of the lunar cycle, which makes it much easier to fit around your travel plans.

There is a substantial amount included within the program, with the number of treatments and experiences increasing with the length of stay. Depending on which version you choose, the program includes experiences such as private yoga, meditation, Reiki, Shirodhara, spiritual guidance, morning rituals, elemental practices and a personal fire ceremony.

The program also draws on the Pancha Mahābhūtas, the five elemental forces of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether, which are explored in relation to both the natural world and our own experience.

Earth is associated with grounding, structure and stability, Water with emotional flow and receptivity, Fire with purification and inner strength, Air with movement and inspiration, and Ether with space, stillness and expanded awareness.

Kamalaya has combined these ancient concepts with contemporary insights from psychology and neuroscience, which I think is another interesting part of the program. It brings together traditions that are thousands of years old with a more modern understanding of emotional and mental wellbeing.

Explore your Spiritual Side at Kamalaya

For me, Sacred Renewal is the most overtly spiritual of Kamalaya's current programs, drawing on yogic and Vedic philosophy, the Pancha Mahābhūtas, the koshas and chakras, as well as the Gurukula tradition of lived spiritual learning.

It brings together practices including meditation, mantra, elemental work, spiritual guidance and rituals, alongside Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Taoist healing and Reiki. So while the program has a strong foundation in ancient wisdom, it isn't tied to one particular spiritual tradition.

If you have visited Kamalaya before for the fitness, treatments, nutrition or one of its more outcome-focused programs and now feel like exploring a different side of the experience, I think this could be a very interesting way to return. Equally, if you have always been drawn to the spiritual elements of Kamalaya but weren't quite sure how to build your stay around them, Sacred Renewal gives you a much clearer framework.

Kamalaya particularly recommends Sacred Renewal for guests who already have some experience with yoga, meditation or contemplative practices and want to explore them more deeply. If that sounds a little outside your usual comfort zone, however, it's worth remembering that this is just one program within a much broader offering. That's one of the things I like about Kamalaya: you can choose an approach that feels right for you, whether that's spiritual, fitness-focused, restorative or somewhere in between.

My experience of Kamalaya

Kamalaya is one of my favourite retreats and somewhere I have returned to many times, so I have a lot of first-hand experience of the property, its programs and the different accommodation options.

I've also written a detailed review of Kamalaya which you can read here and captured a short video tour (below) during one of my visits, which gives you a better feel for the property and my thoughts on the experience.

I consider myself something of a Kamalaya expert at this point, particularly when it comes to the different programs and room categories and, perhaps most importantly, how to put everything together to get the most from your stay.

Planning your Kamalaya stay

There is quite a lot of choice at Kamalaya, which is one of its strengths but can also make it feel a little overwhelming. The right program and length of stay will depend on what you want from your time there, and I don't think longer is necessarily better for everyone.

For some guests, an 8-night program will be exactly right, while others may want 11 or 15 nights to give themselves more time to settle in and make the most of the experience. I will also often recommend choosing a shorter program within a longer stay, particularly if you are visiting for the first time. This gives you the structure and focus of a program, while leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the facilities, sample the daily activity schedule and potentially include sessions with visiting practitioners.

The same applies to accommodation. Kamalaya has a range of room, suite and villa categories, and they each have their own advantages in terms of space, location, views and privacy. Having stayed at Kamalaya many times, I can talk you through the options and give you my personal recommendations to suit your specific preference.

If you are considering Christmas or New Year, it is worth starting the conversation early as some room categories are already heavily booked.

Clients booking a minimum 8-night Kamalaya program as guest of The Wellness Travel Expert also receive two bonus treatments.

Thinking about Kamalaya?

Sacred Renewal launches on 1 October 2026 and is available as an 8, 11 or 15-night program, but I would encourage you to look at the full range of program offerings before deciding what is right for you.

There is a lot to choose from at Kamalaya, and my role is helping you make sense of all those options. If you would like some guidance email me at hello@thewellnesstravelexpert.com or schedule a call at a time that suits you.
