The Wellness Travel Expert reviews Mount Med Resort in Austria
Mount Med Resort is a new wellness property in Austria that blends medical expertise with a mountain setting. Although still in its early stages of opening, it already demonstrates a clear and structured approach to wellness. The Mylife Changer® methodology underpins every aspect of the stay, combining diagnostics, movement, nutrition, and targeted therapies to support cellular health, detoxification, and the slowing of ageing processes.

Accommodation & Design
During our visit, my husband Ben and I stayed in a Mountain Peak Junior Suite with View, which looked directly onto the surrounding mountains. The suite was comfortable and practical, providing a quiet, restful space between treatments and clearly designed to promote restorative sleep. As with the rest of the property, the design was thoughtful and contemporary, with interiors and outdoor spaces prioritising light, calm, and a connection to nature.
Atmosphere & Setting
At times, the resort felt almost private, with only a handful of other guests around. This quietness created a restorative atmosphere and we often felt like we had the place to ourselves. The same applied during mealtimes: we were assigned our own table for the duration of our stay. While it worked fine, we would have enjoyed the chance to move around. Guests who asked were easily accommodated, with some choosing to be seated together (ideal for solo travellers who connected during the stay) and others opting for a sunny table outdoors.
It’s worth keeping in mind that guest numbers and mix will vary depending on the season, currently the resort is still new and it will also become busier, so experiences may differ across the year.
Facilities & Wellness Experience
The 3,500 m² Medical Spa combines diagnostics and therapies, including metabolic testing, HRV, spiroergometry, gait and performance analysis, orthopaedics, aesthetics, and sports medicine consultations. With 38 treatment rooms and consultation suites, the facilities felt extensive and able to support a wide range of needs.
The spa is split into distinct zones. The Nude Zone follows local spa culture, with guests expected to use the facilities without swimwear; towels and robes are provided for comfort. Highlights include the Fire Healing Room, Baluster relaxation room, mineral steam room with ergonomic loungers (40–45°C), Forest Clearing steam room with starry sky (40–45°C), Bio mountain herbs sauna with salt stones (55–65°C), Dragon Fire sauna (85–95°C), Kneipp course, ice cabin, and a multi-sensory shower area. For added privacy, a Private Spa and Private Health Spa are available for an additional charge.
The textile sauna and pool area is part of the general 3,500 m² spa and is accessible in swimwear. It includes the Mountain Lake indoor pool with loungers, a linked heated outdoor pool with integrated whirlpool beds and cascading waterfall, an outdoor pool terrace with sun loungers, a textile sauna (85–95°C), and a panoramic relaxation room with fireplace.
The Fitness Loft (340 m²) is equipped with high-end gym machines, EMS, functional cardio equipment, and dedicated studios for yoga and meditation. We both enjoyed spending time in the fitness centre, with Ben adding a personal training session with Alexander. We joined a Hiking for Health session with Wolfgang, who gathered data during the hike for later analysis, while Daniella led morning alpine walks that combined fitness with fresh mountain air. We made daily use of the pools, relaxation & sauna areas, which became a highlight of our stay, and towards the end I also enjoyed a signature facial with Maria that included a wonderfully relaxing shoulder and neck massage.
Dining and Nutrition
Nutrition is central at Mount Med. The Mylife Changer® nutritional program combines intermittent fasting, calorie reduction, and activation of fat metabolism to support weight management, metabolic health, and longevity. The resort offers three nutritional tracks tailored to your metabolic blueprint: Health Optimiser (high-protein, low-carb), Green Local Hero (plant-forward), and Weight Guardian (detox and weight management). Meals are creative, seasonal, and carefully structured, though our stay leaned heavily towards game and animal protein, which is ideal for metabolic work but may not suit all preferences. More plant-forward options could enhance the dining experience further.

Staff & Guest Experience
Most staff spoke English very well, though the focus felt more aligned with German speakers at present. Consultations, typically 20–30 minutes, never felt rushed, and staff made a genuine effort to translate diagnostics into practical lifestyle guidance. The combination of medical professionalism with personalised care ensures that guests leave with both immediate results and actionable strategies for long-term wellness.

Insider Tips
Don’t hesitate to ask if you’d like to be seated with other guests, move to a different table, or dine outside for more variety.
Make full use of the spa and pool areas - both the Nude Zone for the saunas and steam experiences, and the textile sauna and pools in the general spa area offer restorative options.
Bring good hiking shoes: the alpine walks and hikes with Wolfgang or Daniella are not to be missed.

Overall Impression
Mount Med feels like a serious medical spa resort, not just a hotel with wellness add-ons. The emphasis on structured programs, diagnostics, and personalised therapies makes it an excellent choice for guests seeking measurable results or a meaningful reset.
The quieter atmosphere, attentive staff, and flexibility for those who ask all contributed to a stay that felt both restorative and purposeful. While the dining format and food choices may reflect strong local influences, guests are well supported in making adjustments to suit their preferences.
The combination of expert medical input, spa treatments, and the calming setting made this not only a relaxing holiday, but also an investment in long-term wellbeing.
