JOALI BEING Review

Explore first of its kind, nature immersive wellbeing island retreat with The Wellness Travel Expert founder Samantha Lippiatt.

When you imagine the Maldives, you will likely picture a landscape of pristine white sand, swaying palm trees and the azure sea. A romantic destination synonymous with honeymoons and indulgence. However a new type of traveller has been seeking refuge in the midst of these small coral islands; the wellness traveller, and JOALI BEING has heard the call and delivered an incredible high-end luxury wellness experience just a a 40-minute seaplane ride from Malé.

Here immersion programs, woven around the Four Pillars of JOALI BEING: Mind, Skin, Microbiome and Energy are on offer from five nights. With service and facilities to satisfy even the most discerning luxury wellness traveller. Each guest will be asked to complete a detailed self-assessment and undertake an Intelligent Movement Analysis and an Integrative Health Assessment, after which the in-house team of experts create a bespoke program to achieve the guests goals for their stay. The plan is that guests will leave with a sense of “weightlessness” and renewal, taking the essence of their program home, to integrate within their day to day lives.

Here I experienced sonic healing in the dedicated sound therapy hall and swam with manta rays. Read on to learn more about the JOALI BEING experience…

Cuisine & Accommodation

In the beautiful Flow restaurant, overlooking the sea (and the best hammock on the island) you will find three signature kitchens providing a nourishing selection of dining options including:

  • Plantae focusses on fresh vegetarian and vegan dishes

  • Su offers ocean to table pescatarian menus

  • B’Well is inspired by nature

Nearby Mojo offers a healthy take on international cuisine and is an ideal spot for lunch we also enjoyed this space at night when the lights in the three tiered pool glisten like the stars above.

At the end of the day (or between fitness sessions and wellness treatments) guests can head back to their private villas, boasting floor-to-ceiling windows and uninterrupted ocean views and each and every room has a private infinity pool, butler service, personalised bikes, Bose sound system, hairdryer, straighteners, WiFi, snorkelling gear, meditative balancing instruments, tea-and coffee-making facilities, customised minibar, outdoor rain shower, JOALI toiletries including aftersun, body lotion and insect repellent. You’ll also find your custom JOALI robes, slippers and flip flops. And you can pre-order and wear the JOALI uniform (a simple spa outfit suitable for many classes, meals or on-route to the spa so don’t feel you have to overpack).

Wellness Facilities

JOALI BEING has an exceptional number of facilities, especially given its remote location. These include a tea lounge, library, marine centre, culinary centre, house reef, private sea plane, semi-submersible submarine and much, much more:

  • Areka features 39 treatment rooms & transformational spaces

  • Kaashi, The Hydrotherapy Hall including a Russian Banya, an Aufguss Sauna and the Sensory Deprivation Room

  • Core featuring a vast Technogym, as well as the Maldives’ first cryotherapy chamber

  • The Aktar, the resort’s herbology centre

  • The Discovery Sound Path, a meditative musical garden which leads to SEDA, the music therapy hall

  • The over water Ocean Sala housing an antigravity yoga pavilion, a podologist centre and a meditation desk overlooking the ocean.

JOALI BEING is an incredible luxurious wellness retreat, where no expense has been spared and it will have a dedicated fan base in no time, of this I am sure. For the high-end traveller; this is the wellness destination for you, alternatively a great special occasion destination to celebrate a milestone birthday or big achievement.
