TIA Wellness Resort Review: Vietnam’s Beachfront Wellness Escape Revisited

Returning to TIA Wellness Resort after more than a decade, I was curious to see how it had adapted as wellness travel has grown into a vast and varied industry, encompassing everything from longevity clinics to immersive health retreats.

What stood out most on this visit was that wellness isn't just an extra activity tacked onto your stay at TIA. It's a luxury beachfront resort first and foremost, but wellbeing is central to the entire experience. It shapes everything from your spa schedule, creative workshops and plant-based dining to the private villa layouts and the overall pace of your holiday.

Located along Da Nang's coastline, just 15 minutes from Da Nang International Airport and a short drive from Hoi An, TIA offers an appealing balance of convenience, comfort and restorative wellness experiences. It's an ideal choice for travellers seeking the benefits of a wellness escape without sacrificing the freedom of a relaxed beach holiday.

Quick Verdict

Best For: Couples, solo travellers, and busy professionals seeking a luxury beachfront wellness escape with flexibility, particularly those wanting to slow down, de-stress, and reconnect at their own pace.

Not Ideal For: Guests seeking a clinical or medically focused wellness program, intensive diagnostic testing, or a strict, highly regimented detox.

Recommended Stay: 4 to 7 nights. A shorter break offers wonderful relaxation, but allowing at least four nights gives you the space to fully settle into the resort’s rhythm and experience the spa, daily activities, and dining.

Standout Feature: The Wellness Inclusive concept, where daily spa treatments are seamlessly integrated into the stay alongside movement, breathwork, healthy cuisine, and creative practices.

Worth Knowing: TIA is wellness-focused, but it honours guest autonomy. You can fully immerse yourself in the daily structured activities or simply enjoy your private villa, the beach, and nourishing meals at your own leisure.

My Verdict: TIA Wellness Resort remains one of Vietnam’s most compelling, accessible, and balanced wellness escapes.

A Wellness Resort That Has Evolved

From the moment I arrived, it was clear that TIA had evolved well beyond its original spa-inclusive foundation. The current offering encompasses a broader, lifestyle-based approach.

The resort’s primary model, Wellness Inclusive, combines two wellness treatments per night (80 minutes per person daily) with a varied schedule of guided practices, including breathwork, yoga, fitness sessions, and creative workshops. This framework creates a gentle structure where participation is entirely optional. You can easily build your days around movement classes and therapies, or spend your afternoon by the ocean while still benefiting from the restorative atmosphere.

For travellers looking for a deeper, more tailored experience, TIA also offers the Retreat Inclusive path. Designed for guests wanting focused support, this option includes dedicated retreat therapies, personalised guidance from a TIA Wellness Guide, full-board plant-based dining, two daily spa treatments, and structured consultation to help achieve specific personal goals. The distinction between these two tracks allows TIA to serve a wide spectrum of guests, from those wanting a gentle rest to those seeking a deliberate lifestyle reset.

Accommodation: Private Villas Designed for Privacy

Accommodations at TIA consist entirely of private pool villas, designed to foster the sense of retreat and privacy that wellness travellers value. Each villa opens onto its own enclosed tropical garden courtyard featuring a private pool and outdoor lounging space, offering a quiet sanctuary after a morning movement session or a trip into Hoi An.

Inside, the villas are thoughtfully laid out around rest and slow living. A standout feature of the spacious bathrooms is the deep, indoor sunken bathtub, set directly into the floor to create a spa-like atmosphere within your own room. Thoughtful details, such as daily wellness amenities and a curated minibar filled with nourishing, healthy options, reinforce the resort’s health-conscious ethos.

Although TIA welcomes families, the layout of the property ensures that a peaceful atmosphere is maintained throughout. Because every guest enjoys their own private outdoor pool and courtyard space, guests naturally disperse across the grounds.

Movement, Mindfulness & Creative Expression

While daily treatments remain a focal point, I was also impressed by the variety of the activity schedule. With up to five guided sessions offered daily, guests can explore various dimensions of wellbeing, ranging from morning yoga and fitness classes to mindful breathing exercises.

A notable addition to TIA's programming is the evening Social Wellness Activities. Designed to foster reflection and connection in a gentle environment, these sessions vary by evening. Guests might participate in a sound healing session, join a fire ceremony centred on releasing intentions, or write a letter to their future self, which the resort posts to their home address months after departure. These additions extend the concept of wellness beyond physical therapies, creating meaningful, memorable moments.

During my stay, alongside my daily spa treatments and yoga, I participated in several workshops. One of the highlights was the Self-Care Box creative workshop. I had initially anticipated a traditional craft class, perhaps creating a beauty product or blending essential oils, but it proved to be a far more reflective exercise.

Each participant was provided with a plain wooden box and a wide selection of art and craft materials, with the task of decorating the outside to represent their outer world and the inside to reflect their inner world. We were encouraged to create purely for the process rather than the aesthetic outcome, with the option to share the meaning behind our pieces with the group afterwards.

I’ll admit to feeling a brief wave of self-consciousness at the start; creative expression as an adult can push us outside our usual comfort zone. However, it turned out to be one of the most memorable parts of the visit. It served as a gentle reminder that the value lay in slowing down, being fully present, and engaging in play, something adults rarely make space for in daily life.

Healthy Dining: Nourishing Without Feeling Restrictive

Dining is a vital component of any wellness stay, and TIA’s culinary approach is both thoughtful and delicious. The resort has earned a strong reputation among travellers for its creative, plant-based menus, vibrant smoothies, and multi-functional beverages.

However, the food program never feels punitive or overly restrictive. For guests who wish to enjoy animal proteins, traditional coffee, or a glass of wine, those options are also available. The focus remains on balance, high-quality ingredients, and offering choices that nourish the body without making guests feel like they are on a strict regime.

One of the highlights of the culinary experience is TIA’s signature “Breakfast Anytime, Anywhere” concept. Following an early workout and a morning swim, I had breakfast served right on the beach. Enjoying fresh tropical juices, functional health shots, and traditional Vietnamese coffee all with my toes in the sand and the ocean right in front of me was a simple yet deeply luxurious experience.

Location, Destination & Cultural Connection

TIA benefits greatly from its location along Da Nang’s sandy coast, offering a peaceful setting with direct beach access, open ocean views, and the beautiful main infinity pool overlooking the sea.

(Worth Noting: Adjacent to the resort sits an unfinished hotel development that was abandoned during COVID-19. While it is admittedly a bit of an eyesore along the beachfront, the site is completely inactive. Because there is no ongoing construction or noise, it doesn't disrupt the peaceful atmosphere or daily quiet of the resort).

The location also provides an excellent balance between resort relaxation and regional exploration. Guests can easily use TIA as a peaceful base to visit the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An Old Town (roughly 30 minutes away by car), explore the nearby Marble Mountains, or sample Da Nang’s vibrant local food scene before returning to the resort for an evening treatment.

Service & Hospitality

Vietnamese hospitality is renowned for its genuine warmth, and the team at TIA reflects that care throughout the property. The service style is attentive and personal without feeling overly formal or intrusive.

For guests who may be new to wellness travel or attending a retreat setting for the first time, this approachable attitude is reassuring. The team creates an environment where you feel supported to move through your stay entirely at your own pace.

Before You Book: Expert Advice

  • Understand the Style: TIA operates as a flexible wellness resort rather than a strict, clinical retreat. Ample structure is provided through daily classes and spa inclusions, but you retain total control over your schedule.

  • Match Your Goals: TIA is exceptional for stress reduction, rest, gentle movement, plant-based nutrition, and creative reflection. If you require comprehensive medical diagnostics, lab testing, or intensive clinical oversight, a specialised medical destination spa may be a better fit.

  • Combine Wellness with Culture: Take advantage of the proximity to Hoi An and Da Nang to blend daily spa therapies and wellness practices with cultural exploration.

The Wellness Travel Expert Assessment

TIA Wellness Resort is a property I confidently recommend to clients looking for an accessible, beachfront wellness stay that feels genuinely integrated rather than superficial.

What stood out most upon returning was seeing how naturally wellbeing has become integrated throughout the guest experience. From the daily spa treatments to the plant-based menus, private pool villas with indoor sunken baths, and reflective evening activities, together these elements create an environment that naturally encourages guests to slow down and prioritise their wellbeing.

TIA achieves something that many luxury resorts aspire to: it successfully combines a relaxing beach holiday with meaningful wellness experiences that guests can engage with as much or as little as they choose.

For travellers looking to step away from daily demands and return home feeling genuinely lighter, calmer, and restored, TIA Wellness Resort is a superb choice.

TIA Wellness Resort: At a Glance

Best Time to Visit: February to August generally offers the best conditions for a beach and wellness escape, with warmer temperatures and more reliable sunshine. March to May is particularly appealing with pleasant weather and lower humidity.

Rainy Season: September to January is the wetter season in Da Nang, with increased rainfall and occasional storms. While this can affect beach time, TIA still works well as a wellness retreat during these months thanks to the spa, movement classes, dining and villa experience.

Typical Stay: 4–7 nights. A shorter stay works well for relaxation and recovery, while a longer stay allows you to fully experience the wellness activities, treatments and nearby cultural experiences.

Digital Detox: Moderate. TIA encourages slowing down and reconnecting, but it is not a complete digital detox retreat. Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort, making it suitable for guests who want to disconnect by choice rather than necessity.

Alcohol & Coffee: Available, but wellness-focused choices are prioritised. Guests can enjoy coffee and alcoholic beverages, although the resort places greater emphasis on nourishing cuisine, functional drinks, smoothies and healthier alternatives.

Getting There: TIA Wellness Resort is approximately 15 minutes from Da Nang International Airport, making it one of the more accessible wellness resorts in Asia. Hoi An is around 30–40 minutes away by car, making it easy to combine relaxation with cultural exploration.
